Adam Thomas shares real reason for social media silence after Strictly exit

Adam Thomas addresses social media silence after Strictly exit

Strictly Come Dancing star Adam Thomas has broken his silence on the real reason he has been off social media since getting booted from the ballroom show on Sunday night.

The soap star and his professional partner Luba Mushtuk had to waltz away from the competition after being in the bottom two for a second week in a row.

His failure to impress viewers or the judges with his Rumba saw Adam land in the “closest dance off” of the series against Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington, with all four judges choosing to save Angela.

And on Monday evening, Adam finally addressed his exit from the show alongside Luba.

Taking to Instagram in a video, he said: “Hi guys, it’s been a while. Sorry I’ve not been very active on here. Just needed a day to reflect.

“If I’m being honest, truthful, I was hungover but I’m okay now. We just wanted to jump on here and say to everyone thank you for your support.

“What a journey it’s been,” he continued, before turning to Luba and asking: “Have you had a good time?” Before Luba replied: “I’ve had the best time ever.”

“But unfortunately our Strictly Come Dancing journey is over,” said Adam. “But we had a blast, didn’t we?”

This led to Luba getting tearful, which prompted Adam to tell her: “Don’t cry, don’t cry. It’s fine, Luba. Not again…

“Sorry guys, she’s really emotional and rightly so. She thinks she’s not gonna see me again, but you’re gonna be in my life forever, okay?” he assured her. “Don’t worry.”

The clip came just ahead of the duo’s appearance on Strictly spin-off show, It Takes Two on Monday night. Speaking about his Strictly journey, the Emmerdale star told host Fleur East: “Seven incredible weeks, what a journey it’s been.

“I honestly thought I was leaving in week two and the fact that I’ve got this far I’m so proud of myself, I’ve had an amazing time from start to finish.

“I came here to learn how to dance and I’ve learned so much more about myself. The confidence and self-belief I now have in myself, it’s out of this world I have to thank all these guys up here.

“What a bunch to be on this journey with, I’m just very, very lucky! I know my kids are at home now probably crying, it’s okay – Daddy’s okay!

“I just wanted to teach my kids that it’s not just about winning or losing, it’s about taking part and doing your best.

“[To Luba] I just want to say thank you to this one and I’m sorry, I wanted to get us to Blackpool!”

He also joked about the “Strictly curse” when Fleur asked about his chemistry with partner.

Fleur noted: “Anton [Du Beke] and Craig [Revel Horwood] actually loved the connection between the two of you, why has that worked so well?”

Adam teased: “Well, it’s the Strictly curse, it has really connected us… I am joking, I am joking!” leaving Luba and Fleur to burst out laughing.

Strictly: It Takes Two airs weekdays from 6:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
