Dan Walker, 44, has posted an insight into his life on Strictly Come Dancing with Nadiya Bychkova, 32. The pair visited Dan’s elderly friend Tony Foulds in Sheffield with Nadiya having a “little dance” with the gentleman.

Tony said it was all he had wanted.

Dan built an unlikely friendship with pensioner Tony around a year ago when the star issued out a plea to help Tony find the thieves who stole flags, memorabilia and pictures from a Sheffield memorial.

Tony had looked after the Mi Amigo memorial in Endcliffe Park for many years.

The pair have kept in contact throughout Dan’s Strictly journey, with Dan taking to Twitter today to post an insight into their friendship.

In view of his 737,900 followers Dan posted a heartfelt video of Nadiya dancing with Tony along with the message: “I promised Tony at the start of #Strictly that I would bring @NadiyaBychkova to see him and today it happened.

“They had a little dance, a little chat and Tony said it was all he had wanted. #MiAmigo #RememberTheTen.”

Dan also posted a voice note he received from Tony before his performance last Saturday.

In the voicenote Tony said: “Hi Dan, it’s Tony. You did well, you’re good enough to get through to the semi finals.

“You’ll do it, you’ll do it I’m sure. Love to you both. Love to the family Dan. See ya.” (sic)

He captioned the screen video: “Tony has left me a voicemail every Saturday and Sunday night during our time on #Strictly.

“What a lovely fella he is. I’ve told @NadiyaBychkova all about him and I’m glad she finally got to meet him.”

Fans flooded the comments to tell Dan about how lovely his friendship with Tony is.

Patsykins_X said: “Just adorable. They do say we gain the friends we deserve, Dan.”

AndieHill105 added: “How lovely! We pick up some special people as we go through life and Tony is one of them!

“I suspect he thinks the same of you. Well done for getting so far.”

David490 commented: “This sums you up Dan, one of the most thoughtful and considerate people on TV today.

“This is worth more than 4 tens!”

Dan unfortunately left Strictly last weekend just before the semi finals, losing the dance off to AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast on Monday Dan said: “When you’ve been through something like that and enjoyed every second of it… I’m not sad that it’s over.

“I’ll miss not going training with Nadiya today and learning a new dance and getting ready for the semi-final because that’s been sort of the rhythm of my week for the last three months, bizarrely.

“But I’m just happy that it happened in the first place, so that’s the way I’m looking at it.”

Dan was the tenth contestant to be eliminated from Strictly and now only four remain for next week’s semi finals.

These include AJ Odudu, Rhys Stephenson, John Whaite and Rose Ayling-Ellis.
