Anna Wintour has released a statement on the controversy surrounding Vice President Elect Kamala Harris‘ recent Vogue cover.
The famed publication chose a picture of the politician in casual attire, wearing Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers, and against a backdrop that is unusual for the publication. Social media was outraged. There is also a report that the VP Elect was totally blindsided, as Vogue actually told her they would be using a different photo for the cover.
“Obviously we have heard and understood the reaction to the print cover and I just want to reiterate that it was absolutely not our intention to, in any way, diminish the importance of the vice president-elect’s incredible victory,” Anna, the editor in chief of Vogue, said in a statement via the New York Times.
