The ‘Girlfriend’ songstress introduces Canadian musician AP Dhillon at the annual event in Edmonton, Canada when a topless streaker sneaks on stage and interrupts the singer’s speech.
AceShowbiz –Avril Lavigne didn’t let a naked protestor steal her moment at the 2023 Juno Awards. The Canadian singer/songwriter kicked the woman, who interrupted her speech at the annual event, off the stage.
On Monday, March 13, the 38-year-old star was on hand to introduce a performance by Canadian musician AP Dhillon when the topless streaker sneaked on stage at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. The woman appeared to protest Ontario’s development of the Greenbelt.
She jumped onstage with the phrases “Save the Greenbelt” and “Land Back” written on her body. It appears that the protestor was wearing pasties at the time of the action.
Avril appeared to have tolerated the action for a few moments as she continued her speech as if nothing happened, before she shooed the woman away. “Get the f**k off. Get the f**k off,” she told the protestor, before security escorted the woman away. The woman eventually left the stage without resistance.
In November 2022, the Ontario government issued new regulations to remove 7,400 acres of protected Greenbelt land and open it up for housing. Officials said they expect about 50,000 news homes to be built on the former Greenbelt land, with construction to begin by no later than 2025. The move is under investigation by both Ontario’s auditor general and integrity commissioner as it has faced fierce criticism from public.
At the 2023 June Awards, Avril took home a prize for TikTok Juno Fan Choice. “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” actor Simu Liu hosted the ceremony for the second year in a row. The Weeknd, who led the nominations with six, nabbed five awards, including Artist of the Year award, Album of the Year award and Songwriter of the Year award.
