Bad Religion is set to mark their 40th anniversary with the release of an autobiography, Do What You Want: The Story of Bad Religion, on August 18.
The band’s frontman Greg Graffin has written the 272-page “hybrid oral history/narrative,” along with founding members Brett Gurewitz and Jay Bentley and guitarist Brian Baker. Journalist Jim Ruland helped as well in writing the book.
The book will give an insight into the ups and downs of Bad Religion’s long career, which started in 1980, right from their beginnings as teenagers and experimenting in San Fernando Valley garage ‘The Hell Hole’ to headlining major music festivals around the world.
Rare photos, some hitherto unseen material from the band’s archives and new interviews with the band members and friends will also be contained in the book.
Band Religion released their 17th studio album, Age of Unreason in May 2019. A year earlier, the band released two non-album singles, “The Kids Are Alt-Right” and “The Profane Rights of Man.”
Bad Religion will embark on a co-headlining tour of North America this Spring with Alkaline Trio.
