Budweiser Won’t Ad 2021 Super Bowl Commercial for First Time in 37 Years – Here’s Why

For the first time in a long time, Budweiser will not air an annual Super Bowl commercial at the 2021 game.

The brand is known for 37 years of iconic advertisements during the biggest sports event in the country.

The reason why there will be no iconic ad? The company has decided to use the marketing funds towards COVID-19 vaccine awareness and access instead.

“Like everyone else, we are eager to get people back together, reopen restaurants and bars, and be able to gather to cheers with friends and family,” Budweiser vice president of marketing Monica Rustgi said in a statement to USA Today. “To do this, and to bring consumers back into neighborhood bars and restaurants that were hit exceptionally hard by the pandemic, we’re stepping in to support critical awareness of the COVID-19 vaccine.”

The brand has issued a digital ad, narrated by Rashida Jones, focusing on the pandemic.

The 2021 Super Bowl will take place on February 7 in Tampa Bay between the Chiefs and Buccaneers.
