Chadwick Boseman died at the age of 43 after a secret battle with colon cancer. Following the news of the Black Panther star’s death, tributes have been pouring in from Hollywood celebrities and fans alike.
The Marvel actor continued to work on several films and devoted his time to visiting sick children in hospital despite being diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in 2016.
Black Panther’s executive producer Nate Moore has now revealed the touching final text he received from the late actor.
The pair had been working to get messages and toys to sick children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Nate described how he and the Avengers actor “worked together to get a young boy a voice note from T’Challa, as well as a package of toys”.
The filmmaker said Chadwick cared “so intently, and in hindsight, so personally” about the terminally ill children.
Nate continued in an interview with People that it “broke” Chadwick seeing them, as he shared the actor’s final text message to him.
The Black Panther actor had texted the producer: “It broke me, man. We need to do that for them.
“People deserve abundant life, special moments. They’ve been through hell battling disease.”
Chadwick concluded: “If we were able to ease their suffering and bring joy for a moment, and hopefully moments [as] he goes through the bags, then we made a difference in his life.”
Meanwhile, according to a new report by The Hollywood Reporter, apart from his family, Chadwick “only told a small group of insiders” about his cancer battle.
“No one involved with Black Panther was aware,” a source told the publication.
When the actor died at his LA home last week, his family said in a heartbreaking statement: “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.

They continued: “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.
“It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.
“The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
Chadwick kept his personal life private but is survived by his wife Taylor Simone Ledward and a parent.
The family’s emotional statement posted on the actor’s official account received over seven million likes and has become the most-liked post in Twitter history.
