Emmerdale actress Charley Webb, 33, has spoken out after thousands of visitors took to Bournemouth beach on the hottest day of the year. The Debbie Dingle star admitted she couldn’t believe what she was seeing after she reacted to a post by Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan.

Thousands of visitors arrived on the coast, resulting in numerous problems including illegal parking, excessive waste, anti-social behaviour, gridlock on roads and prohibited overnight camping.

In view of her 440,000 Twitter followers, Charley retweeted a post from GMB host Piers which showed a packed Bournemouth beach.

His caption read: “‘I trust the British people to use their common sense’ – Boris Johnson as he took us out of lockdown. This is Bournemouth Beach.”

Charley penned: “Please tell me this is not real? I can’t actually believe people.”

Fans flocked to comment on the post, with many agreeing with the soap star.

One person said: “Unbelievable and there’s me still in the house.”

Another person commented: “People travelled from Birmingham to visit this beach. Absolutely ridiculous.”

While a third person added: “Even before coronavirus I wouldn’t have sat on a beach that packed let alone now. Most people don’t even know what personal space is let alone social distancing.”

The Emmerdale star’s post comes as thousands of people flocked to the beach despite the current lockdown rules.

Conservative MP for Bournemouth East, Chair of the House of Commons Defence Select Committee Tobias Ellwood tweeted: ‘MAJOR INCIDENT’ declared in BOURNEMOUTH – pls stay away.

“With 1/2 million visitors in Dorset, roads are gridlocked, hindering emergency vehicles & beaches are full – with Dispersal Orders on both piers.

“I’ve asked the Police Minister to dispatch additional police if Dorset requests.”
