Chris Evans, 54, was mid chat with his guest Strictly star Dianne Buswell, 31, when he had to cut her off mid conversation because of the “annoying” phone line. Apologising, Chris was irritated he couldn’t hear the professional dancer properly.

I don’t often do that but that was particularly annoying

Dianne was speaking to the host about her exciting new venture as a YouTube vlogger of all things lifestyle, something she became passionate about during the coronavirus lockdown.

She explained that she had taken up cooking and fitness classes in the time she had to herself, finding new hobbies and interests to keep herself busy.

But what was just something to pass the time become more and more enjoyable and she revealed she had received a positive reaction from fans which encouraged her to revamp her brand.

Chris seemed really interested in her goals and wanted to quiz the dancer on her latest plans but little did Dianne know, one thing was getting in the way.

Interrupting her, he said: “Listen, the phone line is awful, you’re breaking up this end!

“Shall we give you a call back?”

Dianne’s voice could be heard crackling in the background as she seemed disappointed listeners might not have heard what she was saying.

“I want to talk to you about this more but I’m not going to be able to do that,” he explained that to line was too bad to continue the interview.

“Let’s call you back on some kind of landline or something.

“I don’t often do that but that was particularly annoying,” he said, as he cut Dianne off to play music while the team reconnected on a better line.

Elsewhere, Chris dropped the ultimate bombshell on his listeners after he jokingly hinted that his wife Natasha might be pregnant again.

After revealing he was hiding a “big secret”, the radio presenter joked that he and Tash could be expecting their fifth child, but afterwards confessed that it wasn’t the secret he was talking about – but it may have had fans going for a second.

It comes after his co-star Rachel Horne found out he was keeping something important under wraps and she became suspicious.

“I have an absolutely massive secret,” he whispered down the mic.

“I’ve told absolutely no one!”

Rachel retorted: “Well, he knows!” pointing at their fellow reporter Vassos Alexander.

Chris denied all knowledge and refused to budge on his decision to keep it to himself.

Realising he wasn’t going to disclose the intel, Rachel moved on to the traffic news but was quickly interrupted by Chris.

“Is it: ‘Tash having another baby?'” he jokingly hinted, as there was a stunned silence in the studio.

“Well, probably but that isn’t the secret, I don’t know, I don’t know!”

“If she is then we’re going out for another lunch today, I don’t think she is.”

He added: “Not that I have any say in the matter… because…. that’s not it!” he trailed off, realising he was digging himself a hole that might prove difficult to get out of.

But it appears to have all been in jest and that he and Tash don’t have big announcement to make.

The Chris Evans Breakfast Show continues weekdays at 6.30am on Virgin Radio.
