Christine McGuinness says she was home for Paddy’s birthday
Christine McGuinness was forced to extend her family holiday amid last week’s air traffic control chaos.
But as she prepares to return to the UK, she has taken to Instagram to share how her three children, twins Leo and Penelope, nine, and Felicity, six, have coped with the last-minute change of plans.
Posting on her stories to her 710,000 followers, Christine wrote: “Good morning everyone, so you know we’re on holiday for longer than we planned to be.
“We should have only been here for four days but now were on I think day 10 now or something, I cant remember.
“But anyway, it takes them a while to settle into places and I think it worked out amazing that we’re still here because if we hadn’t of done, we wouldn’t have done half the stuff that we have.”

All three of Christine’s children, who she shares with comedian and TV presenter Paddy McGuinness have been diagnosed with autism.
She continued her post writing: “Like now, we’re sat in a café, normally we just stay in a hotel, so that everything is familiar for them.
“Last night, we went to watch the hotel entertainment, I’ve been taking them every night but we haven’t managed to get all three of them in the room, one of them might be outside, one with ear defenders on.
“But last night all three of them came into the hotel entertainment, watched a whole show and even got up on stage, with all the other kids and I was just like… “this is amazing”
“But anyway they’ve done absolutely amazing and it’s time to go back to school now but these extra couple of days on holiday, they’ve absolutely smashed it. I’m very very proud.”

Christine then took to Instagram again to share more holiday snaps with the first image being of herself standing in the sea with a caption box that read: “Leo, Penelope, Felicity, I am so proud of you.”
She captioned the carousel of images with “Proudest mummy”.
Fans rushed to show their support with one fan writing: “Proud of them & I’m proud of you! 2/3 years ago this would have terrified you in so many ways and just look at you now, showing them babies that If mama can do it they can too!! You needed this, was meant to be, but come home now!!! No more drama!!! We miss you all“ (sic).
Whilst a second added: “There’s no stopping you now…a lot of autistic children love going on holidays.. it’s just getting them to go is the problem..but once they do it ..there’s no stopping them…once there’s McDonald’s …its there anxiety that’ stops them…but mrsmcguinness that’s it ..all they will keep asking you is when mammy are we going away again…in fairness I think as well it’s a little bit of maturity”
