Dean McDermott Defends Tori Spelling Over Backlash For $95 Virtual Meet & Greets

Dean McDermott is stepping up to bat for his wife Tori Spelling.

The Beverly Hills: 90210 alum recently drew the ire of fans for charging a whopping $95 to participate in a virtual meet and greet during a time where many people are financially struggling due to various shelter-in-place orders. While you can make a case for both sides of the argument here, McDermott used social media to deliver a passionate defense to anyone bothered by Tori’s moves.

On Tuesday, Dean took to Instagram and shared a four-minute-long video captioned, “Stop dragging my wife!!!” where he questioned the 46-year-old’s critics:

“I find myself having to come to my wife’s defense again. I’m really disappointed because she’s catching flak and being dragged for doing a live meet and greet. People are upset that, given the current situation we’re in, in the lockdown and the coronavirus, that she’s ‘charging’ people money to do a meet and greet.”

As he tells it, Tori was approached by a company who wanted her to do the meet and greet in hopes of providing “some fun and love” to people during this difficult time. But obviously, the idea, as well as the price tag didn’t go over well — and McDermott feels like it’s personal:

“Instead, because it’s Tori Spelling, she gets dragged and she gets the haters coming down on her for simply doing something to entertain people, but more importantly, to provide for her family. What is wrong with that? What is wrong with providing for your family at this time?”

Let’s not forget this business partnership also would’ve worked in the couple’s favor because of their longtime financial troubles. Late last month, one bank asked the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office to seize nearly $89K in owed credit card debt from the pair and that hefty bill certainly isn’t going to pay itself.

“All the studios, everything is shut down. She has no way to work like everybody else. She has no job to go to. So, why can she not work from home and do a live meet and greet with fans and give them some light and love and have some fun?”

McDermott went on to say there are other celebs doing the same thing right now:

“There are numerous celebrities out there that post stuff and influencers, and they’re out there making money every single day. But no, let’s drag Tori Spelling. Let’s give her a hard time.”

The 53-year-old added:

“Everybody reads this and they jump down her throat. How do you know she’s not giving part of this to charity?”

Well, is she??

It might help Tori out in the court of public opinion if people knew this. Although, considering how fans dragged Kristin Cavallari for promoting her business during the COVID-19 health crisis, it seems like people just don’t want to be pandered or advertised to right now in any capacity.

Dean continued to call his wife “one of the hardest-working women in the business.” He said she goes above and beyond for her fans in ways people don’t know about, so they shouldn’t make assumptions or pass judgment:

“If people are making money and making a living — influencing or doing meet and greets or doing videos — let them alone. Would you go to someone’s house who is a computer programmer who’s working from home and say, ‘Hey, man, why don’t you do this for free because of the situation we’re in?’ No, you wouldn’t. But no, because it’s Tori Spelling, you think it’s OK to do.”

Emphatically, he added:

“Well, you know what? I’m here to tell you it stops now! Stop the dragging and get off my wife’s back!”
