Death In Paradise star Josephine Jobert, 35, has shared the extent of her arachnophobia after coming face to face with a huge spider yesterday. The actress, who plays Detective Sergeant Florence Cassell in the BBC drama, declared that the massive insect was “worse” than any others she had encountered on Guadeloupe, where the series is filmed.

Josephine filmed her reaction to the spider while admitting she was stranded outside, as she refused to go near the insect, which was crawling up the wall next to her front door.

While speaking to the camera in French, she translated her words for her English fans in the caption.

She penned in view of her 83,000 Instagram followers: “It’s worse than in Guadeloupe.

“Maybe you don’t realise but it’s enormous. ENORMOUS!! I can’t go inside,” the actress admitted.

Fortunately, Josephine wasn’t stuck outside for too long, as one of her nearest and dearest came to her rescue.

The Death In Paradise favourite filmed her dad rushing to help her out from the house.

He could be seen walking through the dark garden towards her in the next clip.

Sharing her gratitude, Josephine penned: “Super daddy comes to help.”

The small-screen star, who lives in Paris, France, previously opened up on her worries about spiders and how that led her to overcome a major fear while filming a scene involving crabs for season 10.

It came after DS Florence Cassell and DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) investigated the demise of an archaeologist, poisoned on the island.

During the instalment on the show, Neville was seen screaming as he dropped a box of crabs but later faced his own fears and entered a crab-cooking competition, with the help of Florence.

At one point in the show, she turned to her colleague and said: “I have to ask, why are you so scared of crabs?”

Surprised by her response, he asked: “Why are you not?”

Recalling her reaction on social media, she said: “I was like, ‘Oh my god, what is this all about?’

“Basically, in the scene Florence was touching… grabbing a crab for some reason.

“Just so you know, I’m terrified of spiders, it’s a real phobia and people who have the same phobia will understand crabs are like huge massive spiders.

“It’s even worse it’s like a nightmare so I did the scene and I was decomposed, gone, dead inside.”

The actress went on to say that at first, she thought, “No way I’m doing this, I’d rather die”, but came around to the idea after a few weeks.

She added: “But then I thought, you know what? It’s a challenge. If Florence can do it, I can do it and I wanna do it for the show.

“So I said yes, the director Richard sent me another email and said, ‘Are you sure Josephine? We can rewrite the scene if you want.

“I was like, ‘No I’m going to do it,’ I was crying inside but feeling so brave on the outside.”
