Death In Paradise cast member Ralf Little, 41, shared a video of his long journey to rescuing abandoned street puppy Dora. The actor said his new pet pooch ran onto the set in Guadeloupe while he was filming last year and decided to adopt her to save her from going into a shelter.

In a Twitter thread, he explained: “The costume department took her in & cared for her for months, planning to take her back to be adopted in England… until COVID restrictions changed the DAY.

“They were supposed to leave & they had to leave her behind!

“I stepped in so she didn’t go to a shelter – I asked my friends who own the restaurant L’escale to care for her until we could hatch a plan.”

But the actor said due to Covid restrictions he and his wife-to-be Lindsey Ferrentino, who lives in New York, “couldn’t go [and] get her” at that point.

Setting up a new plan, they decided to fly Dora to the French side of Saint Martin, where a rescue team picked her up and took her to a vet for checks and then flew her into Miami.

In the video, the couple documented their journey to picking her up, where Ralf admitted he was nervous in case she had forgotten who he was.

The couple were then met with a mishap after realising they had gone to the wrong place to collect her.

After being directed to the correct place, they were soon reunited with Dora, who seemed pleased to see them.

“8 million texts, emails, calls, my friend Brendan Pelsue translating all the French, my other half’s cousin explaining that we needed to hire a CUSTOMS BROKER, and 2 nights in Miami later… Dora is now an American citizen,” he added.

In an update today, Ralf said she had been settling into her new home a week on from collecting her.

“THANK YOU to everyone who helped.

“It took a VILLAGE for this rescue and we are so lucky that so many people helped us figure out what was arguably the most confusing thing we’ve ever done,” he added.
