EastEnders legend Natalie Cassidy has candidly admitted she is unhappy with her stylish new hair look, less than a month after debuting noticeably lighter locks.
The 40 year old star is well known for playing Sonia Fowler in the hit BBC soap, with her natural brunette tresses a core staple of her look.
However after mulling over a change to her look last month, Natalie decided to take the plunge and lighten her hair, swapping her usually chocolate brown hue for a far lighter and more sandy shade of brown just in time for the school holidays.
Debuting her new look on social media, fans at the time were delighted by her new barnet and couldn’t resist making several compliments as they gushed over her new look.
"You hair looks fab!" wrote one fan with another adding: "I was thinking the same!"
Yet despite the outpouring of love and support, it turns out Natalie wasn’t quite as thrilled as her fans were, as she took to Instagram on Saturday to admit that since the transformation she no longer felt like herself.
She told her followers: “To everyone who's said nice things about my barnet, thank you but I'm changing it back today.”
Natalie then continued: “I’m pleased I tried going lighter but I just don't feel like me! My poor hairdresser!”
The news comes just one week after Natalie was praised by fans online for sharing a candid video of her recent staycation in Cornwall in which she celebrated the occasion, despite some less than cheerful weather.
The star penned: "If like me you decided on yet another British summer holiday, don’t be glum about the rain. We knew there was a high chance of rain. We’re in England. Embrace it. It’s still beautiful. Your kids are still excited we are not at working or at home cleaning whilst they watch the telly. Enjoy it. #summerholidays #mumlife #daughters #family #britishweather #rainraingoaway #together @camera_marc.”
Both the hair transformation and holiday post come as Natalie’s character Sonia once again returns to the limelight in Eastenders as she and partner Reiss embark on a brand new storyline in which they hope to start a family.
Viewers this week discovered that Reiss suffers from fertility issues and would need to pursue IVF if his hopes of becoming a father were ever to come to fruition, however in a sinister twist, it appeared he was willing to borrow money from his comatose wife’s bank account to fund the treatment – something which had failed to disclose to girlfriend Sonia.
Could Reiss be Walford’s latest villain after all?
EastEnders continues Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
