Ellen DeGeneres leads emotional tributes to Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss as he dies aged 40

Ellen DeGeneres has led colleagues and fans all over the world in paying tribute to beloved DJ and show producer Stephen "tWitch" Boss, who sadly died at the age of 40 when he was "found in his hotel room".

The comedian, actress and show host shared her heartbreak on Instagram as she mourned the loss.

The 64 year old TV star also shared a heart-wrenching snap of her in a special and emotional embrace with her longtime coworker, who joined the show in 2014.

The pair had their eyes closed as they hugged with their arms wrapped around each other, in a moment of pure friendship.

"I’m heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light," Ellen began the caption.

She continued: "He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him."

"Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia," the star added.

Devastated fans flocked to the comments to share their love for the DJ.

American singer Sophia Grace commented: "So heartbreaking."

TV producer Andy Lassner reflected on their time working together on the show, as he said: "Nobody made him smile like you did."

"I am heartbroken. tWitch brought love and light into this world. Sending prayers to Allison and their children," TV executive head Brooke Karzen then shared.

Newsreader Katie Couric posted a row of simple black heart emojis, and singer-songwriter Finneas continued: "Rest in Peace to Stephen Boss “Twitch”. I’m Heartbroken for his family."

80s hitmaker Paula Abdul also posted a happy smiling picture of her old friend as she said she was "devastated" to hear the news of his passing.

"tWitch greeted the world every day with a beautiful smile that was a direct reflection of his beautiful heart. He was a beacon of light & a true talent whose legacy & impact will live on in the dance community," she added.

Diversity dancer and The Greatest Dancer presenter Jordan Banjo also shared some thought-provoking words for his fans, as the star warned you "never" know what someone's dealing with in private.

"On the surface, everything you could ever want, beautiful family, extremely talented, incredible career… never know what someone's going through, beyond sad," he posted in his stories.

"RIP to this legend," the dancer added.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse also shared her shock at the news and sent well wishes to the DJ's wife on her Instagram stories.

"What sad news!!! R.I.P. So sorry @allisonholker," she wrote.

TMZ first reported the sad news that Stephen Boss had appeared to have died by suicide when he was found in a hotel in Los Angeles.

The TV favourite's wife Allison Holker Bos then confirmed the news with a statement.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us," she began. "Stephen lit up every room he stepped into.

"He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans," she added.
