Emily Atack admits struggling through hard time following Liam McGough break up

Emily Atack has confessed she's been struggling through a "hard time" a week on from her reported split from Liam McGough.

The 32 year old actress and comedian, who is said to be set to air a documentary on online sexual harassment, took to her Instagram feed to post a favourite poem of hers that's helped her through this difficult period.

Titled The Orange by poet Wendy Cope, it reads: "At lunchtime I bought a huge orange/The size of it made us all laugh.

"I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave –/They got quarters and I had a half.

"And that orange it made me so happy,/As ordinary things often do/Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park/This is peace and contentment. It's new.

"The rest of the day was quite easy./I did all my jobs on my list/ And enjoyed them and had some time over.

"I love you. I'm glad I exist."

In the caption, she shared how the poem has reminded her to "appreciate tiny moments of joy" when they come along in her life, which has been plagued with hardship recently.

She wrote: "Things have been hard lately. In more ways than one, for so many people. One thing I’ve found a great love for is poetry, and when facing some personal struggles of my own, I turn to them, and I remembered this poem today.

"One of my absolute favourites – The Orange by Wendy Cope. It reminds me to appreciate tiny moments of joy when they come my way. A day might be made up of a few, or just one or two. Try to look out for them, don’t miss them," followed by a red heart emoji.

Fans were quick to share their thoughts as one person wrote: "I REALLY loved this post. Simple pleasures eh? It's easy to forget sometimes," followed by a red heart emoji.

"This is lovely Emily I hope you are well," another said with a heart eyes emoji, while a third added: "Sending love Emily, hope you’re ok xxxx".

Emily's post comes just a week after it was reported she split from her tree surgeon boyfriend Liam following seven months together in what was an “amicable” separation after the couple realised that they were “better off as friends”.

Speaking to The Sun, a source claimed that the pair broke up earlier this week and said: “Emily and Liam have been friends for a long time and were together for seven months, but sadly have decided to separate.

“They kept their relationship private for a while and only went public when the news broke that they were together.

“Sadly, they decided they were better off as friends and parted ways a few days ago, but it's all very amicable.”

OK! has contacted a rep for Emily for comment.
