I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! star Emily Atack exclusively opens up to OK! this week about her chequered love life and romantic history.
From the first boy to break her heart, to entering therapy to deal with losing her first love, to her recent and raw split from film producer Rob Jowers.
Emily, 29, who found fame on The Inbetweeners, is refreshingly honest in both her OK! interview and the text of her forthcoming memoir, Are We Nearly There Yet?
“I’ve had some amazing relationships and some not-so-good moments. I want young girls to read my book and know that whatever they’re going through, I’ve been there and lived it and survived.
“There is light at the end of the tunnel,” she says.
On her recent split from film producer Rob, Emily tearfully tells us: “It’s been a very, very tough time and it’s still very raw.
“Luckily I’ve got so many amazing things happening in my life to distract me from the fact that I’m incredibly sad. But I know the drill and I’ve got over boys before.”
With her 30th birthday on the horizon, Emily also tells us that romantic disappointments become tougher to deal with as you get older.
“Heartbreak gets harder to deal with as you get older as you pin your hopes on things. I so wanted this to be my happy ending.”
Refreshingly honest and open, Emily also opens up to us about the end of her first relationship with a boy called Jason.
“Whether or not to include that was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” she says.
“I was with Jason for a long time and it’s heartbreaking ending a relationship with somebody you still love. I think most of us can relate to knowing that a decision is right in your head but it’s still breaking your heart.
“I didn’t tell him I was writing the book as we’re not in contact any more. We have lovely memories but there’s too much history there to be friends.”
She also says that losing her first proper love left her feeling low and depressed: “I started seeing my therapist towards the end of my relationship with Jason; I was also on strong antidepressants for a while.”
Meanwhile, Emily, who finished as runner-up to Harry Redknapp in the jungle and formed a lifelong friendship with John Barrowman last year, reflects on how she's had to revise her own expectations of both herself and the future.

“Growing up, I thought being 30 would look very different but I’ve had to revise expectations. Despite all the heartbreak, I still want my happy ending, marriage and kids, the whole package. But I’m coming to realise my happy ending doesn’t need to look like everyone else’s.”
She also says: “While part of me wishes I was doing the school run each morning rather than filming or doing photoshoots, I know in my heart of hearts I’m doing what’s right for me. That’s not to say I don’t want those things eventually.”
