Love Island star Tom Clare, 23, is said to have shown a "different side" with his partner Zara Deniz Lackenby-Brown on the ITV2 series, as the South London contestant became "argumentative" in an explosive row that erupted in the villa Tuesday night (January 31).
According to a body language expert, when the pair came to blows Tom acted very differently to how he had in the past.
Betfair Bingo's Darren Stanton also commented on the pair's mutual tendency to display "anger and frustration".
It all blew up when Tanya Manhenga couldn't keep Will Young's secret to herself, that bombshell Ellie Spence, 26, had had a sneaky kiss on the terrace with Tom.
After confiding in Zara, who was still smarting from her former connection to Tom, Tanya begged the islander not to tell Olivia Hawkins, 27, but Zara did just that.
While Tom insisted he hadn't done anything wrong, Zara stormed over hot on the heels of Olivia's tears and launched into a tirade against the sneaky islander.
She finished her angry words by sarcastically declaring that she hoped Tom's parents were "proud" of him for his actions, which lit a fuse in him.
Tom stormed off angrily and the boys had to calm him down off-camera.
“There were lots of flash points and red flags during Zara and Tom’s interaction on last night’s episode," Darren observed. "As Tom jumped up towards the end of the altercation, his immediate posture was one of anger and aggression.
"If you notice, he stood up and clenched his fists. In that moment, he displayed a lot of frustration, and clearly wanted a confrontation there and then.
"When people are angry, they tend to demonstrate what they really think. I think last night showed a very different side to the Tom that we have seen on the show so far," the body language expert continued.
Darren went on to say that "clearly" Zara was very "argumentative," but it was due to being fuelled by disappointment in her former beau and a sense of sadness too.
"I believe she was holding a lot of internal feelings towards Tom, and the fact that it had come out that he had kissed someone else became the ignition to all of her built up anger," the expert went on. "The fact that she brought up his family clearly hurt and affected him.
The expert also explained that it was "clear" Zara's goading comments had touched a nerve with Tom, but both showed flashes of anger during the heated discussion, as witnesses by their eyebrows knitting together and their mouths "coming down".
Elsewhere, teacher Kai Fagan appeared "unremorseful" in his approach to Tanyel Revan, and the body language expert isn't convinced on Will and Australian bombshell Jessie Wynter's romance.
The latest recoupling is set to completely shake up the villa during the next instalment, with the boys tasked with picking which girl they want to couple up with.
But just as the boys have to sort out their heads and hearts at the fire pit, two more bombshells will enter the villa – senior HR advisor Jordan Odofin, 28, and recruitment consultant Casey O'Gorman, 26.
Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2
