Gary Lineker, 58, is living the single lifer after splitting from wife Danielle Bux, 40, in 2016. Getting frank about his sex life, however, the Match Of The Day presenter told The Times Magazine: “It’s a stupid and horrible thing to say ins a way, but I’m not massively into sex. I quite like flirting a little bit,” he added. “Now that’s all I do.
Speaking out about the progression of relationships from flirting to sex, Gary continued: “But then after that… This is really being honest. It’s like hard work.
“Going on a date and then, yes, come on, let’s do it. Do we really have to do all that?” he mused.
“So, I’ve hardly had any dates.”
The former footballer said he has had “the odd” date but is always “straight” with the women he dates.
“I say, ‘I don’t want a relationship; a nice dinner’s fine,” he told the publication.
Sharing a link to the article with his 7.4 million Twitter followers, Gary joked he would have preferred the headline hadn’t focused on the level of his interest in sex.
“Would probably have preferred a slightly different headline but thanks for the interview,” he said.
The candid revelation soon caught the attention of funny man David Baddiel, 55, who saw the opportunity for some comedy.
“Bit weird for someone who was always scoring,” he teased.
Instantly, Gary quipped back: “Been a while since I was in the box.”
“Its the positional play that’s key,” David added, to which the pundit replied cheekily: “All about attacking the space sometimes from in front, occasionally from behind.”
Gary has been married and divorced twice, having first tied the knot with Michelle Cockayne, 53, in 1986.
The pair, who have four sons together, split in 2006.
Three years later, the Match Of The Day favourite married actress and model Danielle, but confirmed they were divorcing in 2016.
The sportsman made a name for himself playing for Leicester City and went on to cement his place in the Three Lions’ hall of fame.
To this day, he holds England’s record for goals scored in the FIFA World Cup finals.
