Former Love Island star Georgia Harrison has expressed her "regret" at making her feelings surrounding ex-boyfriend Jake McLean's death so public.
Jake tragically lost his life aged 33 on Sunday 3 July, after a car he was driving crashed off a cliff in Bodrum, Turkey.
His off-on girlfriend, TOWIE's Yazmin Oukhellou, 28, who was also in the car at the time of the accident, however she miraculously survived, has said that she found Georgia's social media reactions to Jake's death "upsetting".
Georgia, 27, who starred on the 2015 series of Love Island, took to Instagram in the wake of Jake's death, as she revealed that the pair had previously been in a relationship.
Posting a number of loved-up snaps of herself and Jake, Georgia paid tribute to him as she wrote: "Thankyou for giving me the confidence to love myself, thankyou for always routing for me, thankyou for loving me but most of all thankyou for being my mukka even in my road girl days.
"333 will always be my number for you and the way the world lost you will forever haunt me because it makes no sense rip jake you lit up a room and everyone who met you couldn’t help but love you."
She also appeared to tell someone on the comments section that Jake had sent her a number of messages, asking her to join him on the fateful trip to Turkey, which he went on with Yazmin.
Georgia, who recently took a break from social media to deal with her grief, has since released a statement via a spokesperson to Mail Online, in which she expressed her "regret" at her social media activity surrounding Jake's death.
The statement read: "I can confirm Georgia and Jake were in a serious relationship in the past and were still in regular contact during the time of his tragic accident, so Jake's passing came as a huge shock to her.
"Georgia now regrets making her feelings around Jake's death so public, but at the time of posting she was in a state of shock and pure grief.
"She is keen to respect Jake's family and loved one's request to grieve his death in private and has no further comment on the matter."
Georgia's statement comes after Yazmin said she was "upset" at what Georgia had posted, saying last week: "I think Jake and Georgia have had a sexual relationship on and off.
"I don't think they have ever been together. But it was an upsetting thing to read.
"I wish she hadn't posted them and I'm not sure why she did.
"I guess grief can really hit people though. I don't want to get into a slanging match at all with anyone else — it's hard enough coming to terms with it all."
