Gigi Hadid is donating all her Fashion Week earnings to those suffering from the war in Ukraine following the devastation the country has seen these past few weeks.
The supermodel, 26, has been taking part in Fashion Week across multiple cities over the last month and has committed to handing off all her pay checks from her shows to those desperately in need of help.
Posting a series of photos of herself during Fashion Week on Sunday, mum-of-one Gigi pledged on Instagram to offer up the considerable contribution to Ukrainian organisations after feeling a responsibility to give back in these trying times.
"Having a set Fashion Month schedule has meant that my colleagues and I often present new fashion collections during heartbreaking and traumatic times in history,” the 26 year old captioned to her 72.7 million followers.
“We don’t have control over most of our work schedules, but we would like to walk ‘for’ something.
“Following in the footsteps of my friend @micarganaraz , I am pledging to donate my earnings from the Fall 2022 shows to aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine.”
Bringing awareness towards the conflict brought upon her native country Palestine also, Gigi urged followers to support the cause for human justice in the extended message.
“Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion. At the the end of the day, innocent lives pay for war- not leaders.
“HANDS OFF UKRAINE. HANDS OFF PALESTINE. PEACE. PEACE. PEACE. “
The busy model has been in Paris for the last week of shows scheduled for the fashion month, which concludes 8 March, and looks likely to now have more time to focus on her endeavours in supporting those affected by the current war.
This isn't the first time Gigi has publicly discussed her views on the invasion on Ukraine as she spoke up last month on Instagram Stories condemning Russian President Vladimir Putin for leading the attack.
The supermodel referred to Putin's actions as a “threat to every Democratic country” and revealed her heartbreak at the Ukrainian citizens effected by the tragic events that have occurred since invasion.
“My heart is hurting for Ukraine and all those affected by this unimaginable reality,” she wrote.
“I pray that the support other countries provide can give Ukrainians what they have voted for and deserve.”
