Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan reveals how he renovated his home to protect his ‘sick’ grandmother

Good Morning Britain star Piers Morgan has revealed how he renovated his holiday home to help protect his "sick" grandmother.

The 55 year old ITV journalist opened up on how he converted his garage into a “little cottage” for his second home, which he shares with his parents.

Piers described his Sussex holiday home to GMB viewers and his co-anchor Susanna Reid on the show Monday 1st June to criticise Dominic Cummings’ controversial moves, which were unearthed while Piers was replaced on show last week.

He explained: “Down in Sussex, I share a nice house with my parents. They have one half, I bought the other half.

“And then, when my grandmother fell sick I converted the garage into a little cottage. So, I’ve got a little out house rather like he [Dominic Cumings] went to.”

Sharing his frustration over not being able to visit his grandmother in her second home, he continued: “I am still not allowed today…”

Making dig at Dominic Cummings, Susanna asked through laughter: “Is it concrete bricks?”

Piers, who shared his heartbreak over his colleague Kate Garraway crying over her husband Derek Draper as he battles coronavirus, replied: “It’s not as ugly as his one looks.

“But, here’s the point, I’m still not allowed today to go down there and stay the night , that is still against the rules.”

It comes after Piers found himself on the receiving end of criticism over the weekend as he shared a photo of his freshly-cleaned Aston Martin parked at a car wash.

Piers’ Instagram photo shows his black £150,000 vehicle parked in the London-based car wash after having it cleaned there.

GMB star Piers praised the car wash company in the caption as he wrote: “I never knew how much I’d miss a car wash. Thank to the guys @atlanticcarwash for restoring my Aston to its former glory after Lockdown rendered it an unsightly stained blot on vehicular humanity.

“It’s a great place just off the Fulham Palace Road. Highly recommend,” followed by a thumbs up emoji.

The snap received more than 11,000 likes, but some fans were left unimpressed with the post.

One critic asked: “Why can’t you clean your own car – my husband is a key worker and still cleans all of our cars – any thoughts?”

While another added: “So many people lost their jobs and can't afford to pay their mortgage bills etc this is disgusting”.
