Holly and sarcastic Phil falling apart on This Morning, says body language expert

A body language expert has today compared This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield's body language to that of the estranged Prince Harry, just hours after news emerged that he and co-star Holly Willoughby have suffered an off-camera fall-out.

The 61-year-old host returned to the much-loved ITV daytime series today where he and former friend Holly hosted the show together, but image and presentation expert Judi James is convinced of bad blood existing between the pair.

Judi claims Phillip's non-verbal "reply" to recent rumours of a rift between he and Holly is "borrowed from the Prince Harry handbook of body language".

She told the Daily Mail that, "like Harry at the Coronation, Phil adopted a jaunty, almost cocky air, using some overkill rituals and facial expressions and some status-and-power splaying to suggest resilience and defiance".

Judi added that mum-of-three Holly – who today shared her son's adorable nickname as she sent him sweet birthday message – appeared "less comfortable" than usual, accusing her of using some "barrier rituals to suggest a cut-off from Phil".

She concluded that "the couple's normal synchronicity" was "falling apart" at times, speaking of moments of "snappish verbal banter", accusing Phil of such a sarcasm that delved from a "desire to either stand his ground or fight back".

"Phil bounced on his heels in a more cocky display and at one point his smile to camera looked more like a teeth-baring ritual, suggesting supressed anger," she believed.

Speaking of Holly, 46, Judi added: "There was some finger-fiddling from her but when she turned to speak to Phil on the sofa she used an emphatic pointed index finger at him, which is often linked with an attack."

Judi's assessment follows allegations which began circulating this morning, that claim Holly is currently "barely speaking" to her daytime TV co-host, with the pair apparently having "become more distant" in recent months.

The Sun claim that an insider informed them: "Holly adores This Morning and for the first time in 14 years she has made it clear that should Phil ever leave she would want to stay. They are separate entities. It has become an open secret that things aren't as rosy as they once were."

The source allegedly added: "To those around them on set, it has become clear recently that Holly and Phil are not as close as they once were. Professionally you would have no idea there was anything going on because on camera they are acting exactly the same, but behind the scenes their relationship has cooled."

Another source also reportedly told the publication that the pair's banter and 'camaraderie' off-camera was not the same as it used to be, and had 'dwindled' in the last 12 months.

"It has become an open secret that things aren't as rosy as they once were. Holly however has made her position clear and that is that she wants to remain at the heart of This Morning."
