Hugh Jackman films supportive video for Olivia Newton-John amid cancer battle

Hugh Jackman filmed an emotional message of support for Olivia Newton-John during his latest tour show, as a sweet gesture to raise her spirits amid her cancer battle.

The Wolverine actor headlined the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia on Monday night on his The Man. The Music. The Show tour, and took the opportunity to send love to the Grease actress as she battles through her health ordeal.

During an interview with 60 Minutes this week, Olivia revealed she was diagnosed with cancer for a third time in November and said there was a slim chance of recovery as it is now at stage four.

Making for a rather thoughtful gesture, Hugh shot a selfie video during last night’s performance and said: ‘Hi Olivia, it’s Hugh and 15,000 of your friends and fans.’

After panning around the arena, he added: ‘Listen, you are the most amazing person, the most amazing mum, the most amazing ambassador, singer and dancer.’

The Australian actor then got the entire audience to shout in unison: ‘We love you, Olivia,’ before he kissed the camera.

In a caption on Instagram, Hugh added: ‘[Olivia] you are the most incredible …. !! We love you. HJ, Debs and 15 thousand of your closest friends. #onjwellnesscentre.’

Hugh, 50, has himself battled skin cancer multiple times in the past and often detailed his treatment and recovery on social media.

Olivia, 70, shared the devastating news that the cancer has spread to another location in her body on Sunday.

In the 60 Minutes interview, the actress said: ‘I’m so lucky that I’ve been through this three times and I’m still here. I’m living with it.’

She continued: ‘When you’re given a cancer diagnosis or a scary illness diagnosis, you are suddenly given a possibility of a time limit.

‘The truth is, you could get hit by a truck tomorrow, you don’t know so every day is a gift, particularly now.’

Determined to fight the disease, Olivia said: ‘If you believe the statistics, you’re going to make them happen. If somebody tells you, “you have six months to live”, very possibly you will – because you believe that.’
