Elba and his wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba told BBC News that Governments to plan ahead and help the agriculture industry survive through the COVID-19 outbreak. The actor added if farmers are not protected then some areas may face the prospect of running out of food.
Elba said: “Without shopping centres and food banks, we will all suffer in the future.
“We need to help the agriculture sector before it suffers.
“That is what we are asking.
“We are not asking individuals who are strapped at the moment.
“We are talking about Governments and asking them to think about the future and to help the agriculture industry survive.
“Because it is about food.
“It is about the basic necessity for human beings.
“That will run out if the farmers can’t farm.”
