Jeremy Clarkson faces backlash after discussing fracking at Diddly Squat farm

Jeremy Clarkson does ‘fracking at the farm shop’

Jeremy Clarkson’s tongue-in-check quip about “fracking” at Diddly Squat didn’t go down well with some fans, while others hit out the “woke brigade” as they rushed to the Clarkson’s Farm presenter’s defence.

The Amazon Prime star has decided to immediately get back to work on his farm after returning from a relaxing vacation to France.

In a new clip shared with Diddly Squat Farm Shop’s 1.4 million Instagram followers, Jeremy could be seen watching over some serious equipment.

The former Top Gear presenter donned a hard hat as he watched fan favourite Kaleb Cooper and another member of staff operate the heavy-looking machinery.

In the behind-the-scenes video, fans could see a giant machine drill go into the ground as a camera crew captured it all.

Jeremy’s girlfriend Lisa Hogan could be heard off-camera asking: “Jeremy, what are we doing?”

“Fracking,” Jeremy replied, also adding in the video’s tongue-in-cheek caption: “Fracking at the farm shop.”

While Jeremy was simply poking fun at the large machinery used for the drilling work he was done, some social media users still weren’t happy with his “fracking” comment.

Fracking is the practice of extracting oil and gas from the ground, which has proved to be controversial for a number of environmental reasons.

Meanwhile, James offered up a more environmentally friendly suggestion, writing: “Hey Jezza if your looking for cheap fuel to run ya tractor, look no further than your livestock. “Anything like cows produce methane, capture, cool, and you have free fuel for life. Lots of farms do it. Save the planet.” (sic)

However, other followers pointed out that Jeremy was being sarcastic with his “fracking” comments and defended the star.

Cara penned: “Lol I highly doubt it’s fracking lol just Jeremy’s way of winding people up for sh**s and giggles.” (sic)
