The nation is descending into chaos as coronavirus continues to spread.
And EastEnders star Jessie Wallace has shared that she has seen humanity at an all time low outside her local supermarket.
The actress, 48, told her Twitter followers on Monday that she saw someone was mugged for their toilet roll – which has become like gold dust during the pandemic due to selfish stockpilers clearing the shelves – and now she 'never wants to go out again.'
The toilet roll robbery did not take place outside a budget supermarket but instead the crime scene was surprisingly a high-end Waitrose grocery store – which tend to be frequented by middle-class shoppers.
Sharing about the crime on Twitter, she penned: "This is getting so crazy now! Some one got mugged for their toilet paper outside Waitrose in Muswell hill! WTF!!!!
"I am not going out ever again."
Some supermarket chains have restricted sales of essential food and household items as a result of coronavirus stockpiling.
According to a survey from Retail Economics, as many as one in 10 UK consumers is stockpiling, based on a sample of 2,000 shoppers.
Last week Jessie proved that she is taking every precaution to protect herself against the virus.
Taking to Twitter to share a witty snap of herself all dolled up ahead of a night out, the Kat Slater icon posed up a storm as she paraded a packet of Dettol wipes in place of a handbag.
Alongside the sultry snap, Jesse quipped: "Clutch bag for this evening".
While the majority of Jesse's fans saw the funny side to her coronavirus jest, others were left 'appalled' by her insensitivity.
"There's people that are dying left, right and centre all across the world and you're here looking for likes. You should be ashamed".
Another voiced: "Wow. How bloody insensitive of you. I'm sick of these celebs making a joke out this devastating outbreak".
"How pathatic. Please stop trying to make this something that's funny. It's not in the least bit funny Jesse".
Despite the backlash, it wasn't long before Jesse's loyal fans and followers alike rushed to congratulate the award-winning actress on her 'amazing pun'.
One amused Twitter follower proclaimed: "This is the best thing I've seen all day. An amazing pun from an amazing lady!".
While others wrote: "Great look girl, really suits you. Love that you're being safe yet sassy. Lol!".
"Oh I hear these clutch bags are in serious high demand at the minute. How on earth did you manage to get your hands on this fashionable gem?" a third quipped.
