Joanna Lumley says Absolutely Fabulous reboot 'won't work'
Dame Joanna Lumley, 76, is well regarded as a British icon which seemingly befits her personal invitation to a royal event that hasn’t happened in seven decades.
The beloved actress is not taking her invitation lightly either, as she has put aside an entire week for planning her outfit, and eagerly awaits the dawn of a new era of British royalty.
In her upcoming documentary, Joanna Lumley: My Best Bits – In My Own Words, Dame Joanna opens up on her expectations, and some timely predictions ahead of the coronation as reported by The Mirror.
She shared: “We’re so lucky to have King Charles, because he’s been the best Prince of Wales there’s ever been.
“He’s fantastic about people, and people who’ve got small jobs, small occupations, and people who are not necessarily the big wigs.
“He’s got time for everybody. It’s going to be a great thrill to see him and Queen Camilla crowned.”
The Absolutely Fabulous star believes King Charles’ reign will put a renewed focus on bettering the environment.
She continued: “I’ve always known how much all the faiths mean to him.
“I know the green agenda will be high up on his list. With those kindly royal eyes looking on, I think it will goad us on to doing better.”

Born in British India, Joanna’s first memory of the UK is the late Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953, when the young Dame was just seven years old.
The sheer enormity of a royal coronation is not lost on the television star as she plans on devoting the entirety of next week to finding the perfect outfit for May 6.
She added, somewhat in contradiction with the fearless, acid-tongued character that catapulted her to fame: “I’m going to try to be as careful as possible to get it just right, to look really respectful and nice, but not kind of too safe.”
Her upcoming documentary shines a spotlight on the entirety of Dame Joanna’s lengthy and diverse career.
She originally got her start in the entertainment industry as a model, undergoing daily weight-loss injections to keep her pristine figure throughout the 1960s.
In 1969, the 23-year-old got her acting breakthrough when she landed the role of a Bond girl alongside George Lazenby in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and three years later made her debut on Coronation Street.
As the budding star collected more acting roles for her resume, her true breakthrough arrived in 1992 as she originated the role of alcoholic fashion editor Patsy Stone in the series Absolutely Fabulous.
Joanna found herself in this role for the next 20 years, covering series and films alongside Jennifer Saunders and growing to global recognition.
The actress’ lifetime of achievements all culminated in her being named in Queen Elizabeth’s New Years Honours list last year, receiving a Damehood from Princess Anne in June for her services to drama, entertainment and charitable causes.
