Many may know John for hosting BBC Radios Today programme which he presented for 32 years before retiring in September last year. But what age is the Celebrity Mastermind host?
How old is John Humphrys?
John, 76 was born in the Splott area of Cardiff on August 17, 1943.
He began his journalism career at the age of 15 when he worked as a local reporter for the Penarth Times.
When John was 23, he started working at the BBC as a reporter covering Liverpool and its surrounding communities in 1966.
John then worked his way up through different roles in the BBC until he started working as a foreign correspondent, which took him to many places around the world including South Africa and the United States.

After 14 years in his role as a correspondent, John returned to the UK in 1980 after seeking a change of pace where he then took on the role of a BBC diplomatic correspondent.
A year later John was promoted to the role of head presenter on BBC’s Nine O’Clock News.
In 1987, he went on to host BBC Radio 4’s Today show which he did for 32 years before retiring from the role in 2019.
His time on the Today programme spanned over seven prime ministers: Margaret Thatcher, John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron, Theresa May and Boris Johnson.
During his last episode, he interviewed two ex-prime ministers: David Cameron and Tony Blair.
Today editor at the time Sarah Sands said: “Losing John in the mornings is a bit like Big Ben being silenced.
“I will miss his restlessness, his capacity for delight, his profound curiosity and his humanity.”
At the time, fans of the interviewer thought he would be retiring altogether but John has continued to host the BBC quiz show Mastermind.

Mastermind takes on an interrogation style format as the contestant sits in the infamous black chair under a spotlight.
They are then asked a series of gruelling questions, putting the contestant on the spot.
John was set take on 4 more celebs tonight including Paralympian Kelly Gallagher, Comedian Stephen Bailey as well as actor Daniel Lawrence Taylor and presenter Bobby Seagull.
However due to the Coronavirus Daily Update on BBC One the celeb special has been postponed.
Bobby Segall who appears on the special tweeted out to his followers saying: “Sadly my @BBCOne #CelebrityMastermind postponed”
