Johnny Depp finally joined Instagram and thanked his fans for their “unwavering support” as he continues to battle Amber Heard in court.
Depp, 56, ended his 8-minute-long video, posted Thursday, with a heartfelt message.
“Before I go, on a more suppose personal note: Thank you all for your kindness, your unwavering support and your strength over these years,” Depp said. “I am touched beyond words.”
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star, who finalized his divorce from Heard, 33, in 2016, is also suing her in a $50 million defamation case after she claimed he physically abused her. Depp strongly denies abusing Heard, claiming she was the “aggressor.”
Depp is also suing British paper the Sun over a 2018 story stating he is a “wife-beater,” which he claims cost him the role in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
Legal troubles aside, Depp’s Instagram debut mainly encouraged people to stay strong against coronavirus despite the bleak circumstances they’re facing.
“Now is the time to open up a dialogue as the thereat of this invisible enemy has already caused immeasurable tragedies and enormous damage to people’s lives,” Depp said, seemingly delivering his speech from the $63 million château he owns near Saint-Tropez, France.
“People are ill and without care, people are getting sick and fighting for breath. People are dying at frighteningly high rates…and I know for the moment it feels like both of our hands are tied behind our backs, and to some degree they are, but our minds are unbound and our hearts are not chained.”
“We can care and through caring, we will help each other and we will prevail,” he continued. “Caring is as close as the eye can see.”
Depp urged people to “stay safe” and “stay inside” while “looking for other ways to pass the time with the cards we’ve all been dealt.”
“We need to make the best use of this time by being close to those we love despite our dire circumstances,” Depp shared. “We cannot and must not succumb to shutting down and giving into what feels like hellish quarantine monotony. We have to keep ourselves curious as this time in isolation can be used for great learning.”
“Remember today is today and that’s that,” he said. “There are going to be no refunds given tomorrow for having missed today. Today ain’t coming back.”
