Katie Holmes: Being A Mother in My 20s Allowed Me and My Daughter to Grow Up Together

Elsewhere in an interview with ELLE U.K. magazine, the ex-wife of Tom Cruise expresses excitement over where her career takes her as she reaches the 40s milestone.

AceShowbizKatie Holmes is glad she became a mum in her 20s because it allowed her to “grow up together” with her daughter.

The actress welcomed Suri with ex-husband Tom Cruise in 2006, when she was just 27 – a decision she claims she’s “happy” with, because it brought her and her daughter closer together.

She told Elle U.K. magazine: “I was happy to become a mum in my twenties. It’s been nice that our ages fit… how do I put this? Every age that my child has been and my age at that time has been a good match. We kind of grew up together.”

Now 40, Katie confessed she still can’t believe she’s reached the milestone, but admitted she’s “excited” to see where the next stage of her career takes her.

“I directed my first film, ‘All We Had‘, a couple of years ago and I’ve been working to get my second film ready so I’m excited to continue,” she reflected. “It’s interesting to be 40, though, because when you’re young, you think, ‘I’m never going to be 40!’ And then the day comes and it’s like, this is OK.”

She added: “I’m still doing everything I’ve always done. I feel happy with where my career is and I’m excited for the projects that I have coming up to come to fruition.”
