Kelly Brook breaks silence on abrupt end to Midsomer Murders role ‘Best acting I’ve done’

Kelly Brook shares her working from home set-up

Kelly Brook returned to viewers’ screens for a cameo appearance in the ITV series Midsomer Murders earlier this year. The radio presenter and model was dramatically killed off in the first 60 seconds of the grisly episode Death Do Us Part.

The 41-year-old has now said her brief role was her “best acting yet”.

Kelly previously revealed that she was a superfan of the investigative drama, so was thrilled when she secured the part.

The model played a bride called Laurel, who was dramatically murdered on her big day.

Speaking about her Midsomer Murders debut, Kelly said she wasn’t disappointed to not be in the entire episode.

Kelly told Express.co.uk: “Some people say it’s the best acting I’ve ever done!

“It was always meant to be a little tongue-in-cheek cameo, it was never meant to be a massive thing so I read the script, I knew what I was saying yes to, it was fine.”

The Heart FM cheekily joked she may make another appearance by “coming back from the dead”.

Kelly said: “Yeah, I should really, Laurel could come back from the dead!

“I just loved the idea of being suffocated by my corset, which has nearly happened on numerous occasions in my life, it just seemed very apt.”

She added: “My mum was really impressed that I managed to die while still holding my glass of champagne.”

Kelly had previously teased her role in the hit ITV detective series on her social media accounts, telling fans to tune into the show to see her in action.

Viewers of the popular series may recall that just moments into the episode, Kelly’s character Laurel met an abrupt demise.

Throughout her career, Kelly has taken on a range of small acting roles.

In 2006 she appeared in ITV drama Agatha Christie’s Marple, before taking on the lead in comedy horror remake Piranha 3D in 2009.

Five years later Kelly starred in NBC sitcom One Big Happy.

Elsewhere, the radio presenter recently opened up about her weight loss as the model noticed she was piling on the pounds during lockdown.

Kelly, who is currently following the SlimFast plan, explained she struggled to resist the temptation to indulge in comfort food during the pandemic.

She said: “I had got from a size 16 to a 12 and then the minute Boris [Johnson] was like, ‘Right, everybody stay home’, all of my routine and all of that hard work just went out the window.

“All of a sudden I was buying pizza ovens, panini makers, ice cream makers, I was closer to the fridge than I had ever been before and it was just a disaster.”

Fortunately, Kelly managed to get back on track by July, as she returned to her diet plan and exercise regime with her beloved pet dog Teddy.

Midsomer Murders airs tonight on ITV at 8.30pm.
