Kevin Clifton, who announced his exit from Strictly Come Dancing last year, has offered his support to former co-star Graziano Di Prima. It comes as the Italian-born professional dancer has not been paired with a celebrity dance partner in the competition for the past two years.

The 38-year-old said that Graziano is a “talent” who should not be overlooked for the upcoming series.

Speaking on his latest podcast, The Kevin Clifton Show, the Grimsby-born performer explained that he had watched his former co-star perform in his stage play Here Come The Boys alongside Aljaz Skorjanec and Pasha Kovalev.

The ex-Strictly star warned show bosses that they need to be aware of the type of talent they currently have on the programme.

“Graziano Di Prima – I just want to put it out there – is so underrated as a dancer,” Kevin began.

“I wonder if the Strictly producers have been to see [Here Come The Boys]. I heard that they probably did on press night.

“But I think they have to see what they have on their hands.”

He continued: “[Graziano] hasn’t had a celebrity for the last two years on Strictly and I would love to see him with a celeb this year.

“I actually think the [Strictly producers] don’t know what they’ve got on their hands, because he hasn’t had a celeb for two years. He is such a talent.”

The West End performer explained that when Graziano is partnered with his fiance Giada Lini their dancing is “fascinating”.

Kevin added that Graziano’s girlfriend should also be given a permanent role in Strictly.

“I have to give a special message to Giada as well. The two of them dancing together are so dynamic and they’re so energetic and so fascinating.

“Obviously being a couple they have such a special chemistry.”

Graziano joined Strictly two years ago where he was partnered with radio DJ Vick Hope.

The pair managed to waltz their way through to week five before leaving the competition.

Kevin also suggested new arrival Nancy Xu, who joined Strictly in 2019, be given a celebrity dance partner.

He commented: “I’d love to see Nancy get a partner this year for all the Strictly fans.

“I think she is such an underrated talent as well that hasn’t had the opportunity yet to dance with a celeb partner.

“So I would love to see her.”

He concluded: “I would love to see Nancy, Graziano and Giada please. Because they are all brilliant and underrated.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
