Kirstie Allsopp, 49, took to Twitter today to voice her support for ex-Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, 56. The pair have not always seen eye-to-eye in the past but the host said she admired him having “the guts to really question things”.

The Location, Location, Location presenter was writing in response to a Twitter follower earlier today.

Kirstie had bemoaned journalists not asking the right questions to the government.

She tweeted: “Still pleading for reporters to find their mojo and question Government on the prevention of vital family visits to those in hospital.

“Miles of column inches are being written on [David] Cameron’s lobbying, which Boris [Johnson] is no doubt lapping up, while real suffering goes unreported.”

A fan then responded to her writing: “We need @piersmorgan back in the game…”

This led Kirstie to make the admission about Piers as she agreed with their point of view.

She penned in front of her 426,000 followers: “I really, really hate to admit this, but I am beginning to feel this might be true.

“No one else seems to have the guts to really question things.”

Her comments are particularly surprising as Kirstie and Piers have had many public spats over the years.

One came after she voiced her opinion on coronavirus in January, which Piers branded “cretinous”.

He tweeted at the time: “Of all the people I least want to hear from when it comes to expert advice on coronavirus, TV estate agent Kirstie Allsopp and her cretinous trampoline analogies are top of the list.”

Last year the pair also clashed on Twitter over Kirstie’s decision to move her family to her main Devon home as lockdown measures tightened.

As viewers will know, Piers left his role as co-anchor on Good Morning Britain last month following his comments about Meghan Markle.

The outspoken presenter said he didn’t believe her allegations during her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Appearing alongside her husband Prince Harry, Meghan spoke of her mental health struggles in the candid chat as well as making allegations about the Royal Family.

Piers’ comments led to more than 57,000 complaints to broadcasting regulatory body Ofcom.

As he explained in his Mail on Sunday column last month, he was then given the option to apologise or exit the show.

Piers chose the latter and has been open about his decision in several interviews since.

He has also said he has no plans to return to GMB any time soon.

After fans signed petitions for him to return, Piers tweeted: “I won’t be going back, but thanks to everyone who has signed these petitions.

“Normally, people start petitions to have me fired or deported, so this is a pleasant surprise.”

However, this has not stopped viewers hoping he will be returning in a new role soon.
