Lewis Capaldi is to battle Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga for a top gong at the Grammy Awards 2020.
The short list for the 62nd annual ceremony were read out by Recording Academy president Deborah Dugan and Harvey Mason, Jr, Chairman of the Recording Academy.
The first nominations were for Best Pop Solo Performance and the category was dominated by women.
Spirit by Beyonce will go up against Seven Rings by Ariana Grande , Billie Eilish's Bad Guy, Truth Hurts by Lizzo and You Need To Calm Down by Taylor Swift .
Alicia Keys later joined to read out some of the nominations.
She revealed the nominees for the Best New Artist category, featuring Black Pumas, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Maggie Rogers, Rosalía, Tank And The Bangas, Yola.
Song of the Year featured a nod for Scottish star Capaldi, who was nominated for his track Someone You Loved.
He'll be going up against superstars including Taylor Swift (Lover) and Lady Gaga (Always Remember Us This Way).
There was also a nod for fellow Brit Ed Sheeran, who's up for Best Pop Vocal Album for his No. 6 Collaborations Project.
Keys is returning to present the 2020 show after making her hosting debut at the 2019 ceremony earlier his year.
In a statement, she said: "At first, I did think last year was a one-time thing, but when the opportunity came back around, there was no question about returning as host.
"Last year was such a powerful experience for me. Not only did I feel the love in the room, but I felt it from around the world, and it confirmed the healing and unifying power of music."
Keys has been a prolific winner at the ceremony, picking up 15 competitive Grammys over the years.
She will be the third woman to host the ceremony more than once.
US talkshow host Ellen DeGeneres hosted in 1996 and 1997 while comedian Rose O'Donnell had the honour in 1999 and 2000.
