Lewis Capaldi was rejected when he auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent

Lewis Capaldi had revealed that he auditioned for Britain's Got Talent before he became a number one recording artist.

The Scottish singer-songwriter, 23, dished on being told he was informed he had secured a place in the next round of the talent show –  after winning over producers in the first round – but later never heard back.

Speaking to Heart Breakfast's Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden , on Tuesday, he confronted the BGT judge as he said: "Amanda, I went on Britain’s Got Talent and I went to the auditions.

"I went up and I sang White Blank Page by Mumford & Sons and I went on and they said to me Amanda, ‘Oh Lewis that was so great, that was lovely, we loved that'.

Sharing that he never progressed in the competition, he explained: "Then I never received another phone call again."

"Oh em gee, we turned down Lewis Capaldi," a shocked Amanda responded.
