Lil Nas X Has No Regrets About His Coming Out

In an interview with GQ Hype, the ‘Old Town Road’ hitmaker opens up about living his life to its fullest potential, and having a song that has become the longest-running No. 1 single on Billboard Hot 100.

AceShowbizLil Nas X has no regrets about coming out as a gay man, insisting he has been inundated with positivity.

The “Old Town Road” hitmaker revealed all about his sexuality during Pride Month in June and after some abuse prompted him to dial down his social media presence, the rapper insists he’s glad he opened up – because he appears to have helped others.

“Live your life to its fullest potential and don’t really care too much about what other people think of you,” he tells GQ Hype. “I used to say that cliche, but I never really lived by it, until now.”

“Since I came out, people have been coming up to me saying, ‘You’re making a way for us’.”

Lil Nas X, real name Montero Hill, broke chart records in the U.S. last week (ends August 2) when “Old Town Road” became the longest-running number one, clocking up 17 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and he still can’t believe his little record has become such a big hit.

“I’m happy it’s become a part of so many people’s lives,” he says. “Kids are going to grow up with that song and play it to remember these times, which makes me feel amazing.”
