Describing her new title as something ‘beyond my wildest imagination,’ the actress says, ‘I plan to do all that I can by using my platform to bring positive attention to this region.’
AceShowbiz –LisaRaye McCoy‘s birthday this year is surely one that she will remember for a lifetime. Hours before she turned 52 on Monday, September 23, “The Players Club” was crowned the Queen Mother of Ghana for her humanitarian efforts over the years. The crowning ceremony was held at the Cicada Restaurant & Club in downtown Los Angeles.
She took to her Instagram account to share a video and a couple of photos from the ceremony. In the clip, the mother of one was holding back her tears as someone was putting a gold necklace on her neck. Meanwhile, one photo showed her showing off her crown inside of a car. “It’s all good. Crowning of Queen Mother of Ghana w/my family last nite. Simply beautiful,” she said in the caption.
Describing her new title as something “beyond my wildest imagination,” LisaRaye said, “I plan to do all that I can by using my platform to bring positive attention to this region. I will serve humbly.” She went on saying, “I’ve had lots of accomplishments in my life, personally and professionally, but I didn’t get to this point alone. It’s taken a great team of people along the way.”
“To have such an honor bestowed upon me by my own African people is a testament to my hard work and character,” the actress added, before admitting, “It’s like a dream coming true before my very eyes.”
LisaRaye is no stranger to being the head woman in charge. Prior to this, the “All of Us” alum served as the First Lady of Turks and Caicos due to her marriage to Michael Misick. The then-couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony before 300 guests in April 2006, followed by a three-week honeymoon to Jerusalem, Bali and Dubai. In August 2008, Michael announced their divorce through a statement.
