Lizzo and comedian Myke Wright have been dating for a while now. We don’t know the timeline for sure, but they went red carpet official last June. They actually met in 2016, although things didn’t turn into a relationship until later. A month after telling the world they were together, Lizzo suggested she wasn’t ready for much when she called monogamy ‘claustrophobic.’ However Lizzo and Myke have structured their relationship it’s sticking, because when she went on The Howard Stern Show, she said Myke was the endgame for her. When Howard asked if they were going to get married, Lizzo replied that she would not be with anyone else for the rest of her life. That settles that.
Lizzo is in love and looking toward the future.
The “Truth Hurts” singer, 34, opened up about her relationship with boyfriend Myke Wright during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, revealing that they’re moving to a more serious place as a couple.
“We’re not playing any games with each other anymore. We’re very much locked in,” she said.
Wright, an actor and comedian, first met Lizzo when they co-hosted the MTV show Wonderland together in 2016. The “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” singer felt the tension but questioned whether or not she was in the right place for a relationship at the time.
“I had a lot of s— to do, and I still was very much in my ‘I feel un-loveable’ place, and I still was very much not where I wanted to be career-wise,” she told Stern. “Even if a person came around that I was googly gaga about, I had these wild defenses up that made it almost impossible for a true, intimate relationship to occur.”
Though the two moved on after Wonderland ended, Lizzo recalled how she and Wright reunited “when the time was right” and, just recently, decided they are together for real.
“‘This is official,’” she said, adding that they had the infamous “talk.”When Stern wondered if Lizzo would marry Wright one day, the singer responded with a smile and a laugh, remarking, “There’s nobody else I’m going to be with for the rest of my life.”

First of all, can I just applaud Lizzo’s response, “there’s nobody else I’m going to be with for the rest of my life.” There’s no wiggle room in that answer and yet, she’s not giving away if they are engaged, if they’ve discussed their future, if they’re married, living together. And because it’s such a definitive answer, I don’t need any of that information. That’s her business and she’s told us everything she wants us to know. It also sounds like she and Myke are taking things at a good pace for people who hadn’t always considered forever. It’s always more successful when the couple sets up the parameters of their relationship rather than trying to make it fit pre-existing molds. I’m thrilled to see Lizzo happy, and I hope she and Myke enjoy many joy-filled years together.
There are so many good Lizzo stories swirling right now. It’s like my own little Lizzo stocking stuffers. I hope you all caught her The People’s Champion speech at the 2022 People Choice Awards. If you didn’t, you can watch it here. Her mother Shari Johnson-Jefferson presented the award to her and instead of accepting it for herself, Lizzo brought on a group of women activists and acknowledged their work in their communities. It was beautiful. And her Day Drinking with Seth Meyer segment just dropped last night. I know some of you may not approve of the drinking part of that bit, I get it. I laughed until I was wiping away tears, though. Lizzo’s enthusiasm when she gets going is just infectious.
