Love Island star Shaughna Phillips’ council job advertised online

Love Island star Shaughna Phillips' council job is being advertised online after she quit to go on the show.

The 25-year-old beauty was a democratic services officer with Lambeth Council in London before flying to South Africa to enter the villa.

Shaughna had to leave the civil service role before going on the show, but the door was said to have been left open for her.

Mirror Online can now reveal the council is advertising for another democratic services officer to join the team.

The role is described on the Working for an MP w4mp website as a Democratic Services Officer, with a salary of £34,128.

The employee will "work closely with elected Members and senior officers, providing professional advice on democratic, governance and constitutional issues."

The role is described online as someone who "attends public meetings, partnership board meetings and standing committees, and promotes greater public involvement."

It adds that the employee must be "highly organised, able to work flexibly, customer focused and be adept at meeting demanding deadlines in pressurised circumstances, possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and excellent IT skills."

The job was first advertised on February 8, 2020, and applications will close on February 27, 2020, four days after Love Island is confirmed to finish on February 23.

A Lambeth Council spokesperson confirmed to Mirror Online: "Shaughna Phillips used to work in Lambeth Council’s Democratic Services team, but is now on Love Island and we wish her the best of luck.

"The current vacancy is not specifically linked to her departure."

Before Shaughna entered the villa, a Lambeth Council spokesperson confirmed her departure to the Wandsworth Guardian.

Shaughna previously spoke about how men had preconceptions of her before she revealed her job and experience.

When entering the show, Shaughna said: "I’m chatty, funny and clever – people won't expect it from me.

"When they hear me speak about certain things they’ll be shocked."

So, if you fancy stepping into the same profession as Shaughna and think you have what it takes then it may be worth applying!

Meanwhile, the dramas look set to continue for the beauty in the villa as we speed towards the final.

Love Island continues tonight on ITV2.
