Strictly Come Dancing 2020 contestants Maisie Smith, 19, and HRVY, 21, have been getting to know each other more during their time on the show at a distance, but were recently pictured seemingly forgetting the two-metre rule as contestants continue to stay in their bubbles during the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this month, Maisie and HRVY were spotted arriving at the It Takes Two studios with their dance partners Gorka Marquez and Janette Manrara.

The dancing duos on the show have formed their own bubble together, with most of them living alone, and are not allowed to mix together.

HRVY admitted the pair were “slightly closer than two metres” while talking together recently and received a telling off by bosses.

The singer said: “Obviously we try our best to socially distance when we are walking around the studios and outside, but obviously when you are walking and talking you don’t even realise.

“But no one touched each other.

“I just think we were maybe slightly closer than two metres while we were talking.”

He added: “The BBC told us off and everything is all good and everyone is trying their best to maintain all the rules and regulation.

“We are all good. We are all OK.”

HRVY and Maisie have sparked romance rumours during their time on the show after previously admitting they had been exchanging messages.

Last week, the EastEnders actress admitted she had been enjoying getting to know him, but on a friendly level.

She told OK! Magazine: “It’s a weird one. We get along so well – there was an instant connection between us – and I knew straight away that we would be friends.

“Yes, there’s been ‘flanter’ [flirty banter], but I think it’s platonic.”

Maisie went on to say the flirting had been “harmless” and said she would probably say no if he asked her out on a date.

“I’ve not been thinking about boys at the moment,” she added. “I haven’t had time. I’ve been liking getting to know him.“

HRVY also recently admitted he was keen to see how things “blossom” between the pair after the show.

“Maisie really is so lovely and beautiful,” he told the publication as he addressed romance rumours.

“She’s a really good friend of mine and I think she’s an amazing dancer.

“Not a lot can really happen between us because we have to be two metres apart, but I am a little excited to see how things blossom.”

Last night, the singer became the first contestant to get the top score of 30 points with his dance partner Janette.

Elsewhere, Maisie has been in the dreaded dance-off for two consecutive weeks, despite being praised for her routines with Gorka.

Will she avoid going home tonight?

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.25pm on BBC One.
