Mark Wright's parents have tested positive for Coronavirus.

Carol Wright, 61, requested a COVID test after suffering with ‘coughing fits’ over the Christmas period.

Sharing the news on her Instagram page, the TOWIE star said that her husband Mark Sr has also contracted the virus.

Posting a photo of the pair during happier times, on holiday and relaxing in a hammock, Carol explained the situation.

The ex TOWIE star wrote: "Well what a year this has been. This Christmas and new year I was unable to spend it with my loved ones.

"My hubby and I have got attacked with the virus all over Christmas, my husband is fighting it, I am suffering the worst coughing fits ever.

Carol vowed that she and her husband will both beat the virus, and that their experience with COVID has already taught them a lesson.

She said: "But my hubby and me will pull through this.

"It has taught me something in life, never think that this virus isn't real.

"Never take things for granted, always be there for others and it's made me appreciate life so much.

"The little things in life are more important then the big ones. Love and caring is all we need.

"Happy new year to every one and let's hope next year is the best year for every one.

"I just want to thank the NHS for helping my husband hopefully recover this. Fingers crossed x."

Her son Mark had previously shared that coronavirus had hit his family and that certain members had tested positive, however, he didn’t disclose who.

He tweeted: "The Government have of course explained how fast this new variant is spreading, but I think it is hard to understand quite how fast."

The TV star added: "I cannot stress how many people I know, from immediate family to best friends and distant friends who currently have covid. It's rife. Stay safe."

Mark spent Christmas at home with wife Michelle Keegan after restrictions meant that they couldn't see his parents or extended family.

Mark's mum took to Instagram at the time to express her sadness over the family not being able to be together.

Alongside a snap of the entire family, she shared: "Merry Christmas to my world. Who would of thought this year would of been a weird one.

"In 60 years of my life I have only sat around a table of 12 to 30 people as I come from a big family."
