Meghan McCain is remembering her late father John McCain on the day before the anniversary of his death.
The former United States senator died last year at age 81.
The co-host of “The View” took to Twitter on Saturday to pay tribute to her “hero” in a series of tweets.
“Last year tomorrow, August 25th was the worst day of my life. I lost my hero. I miss my father every single day, I will for the rest of my life. Grief is omnipresent and relentless” she wrote. “For every single person who has sent prayers, love & support to my family, we are truly grateful”
In a follow-up tweet, she also announced she would be going on a social media break until her father’s birthday.
On this anniversary until his birthday after the 29th I am going to take a break from social media. The memory of my father’s life continues to guide me today, as it always will. Remember to cherish your loved ones. I still can’t believe my heart didn’t stop when yours did, Dad.. pic.twitter.com/WLYlPZTm8c

McCain is set to share more thoughts about her late father and politics in an audiobook coming out next year.
Audible.com announced earlier this month that McCain would offer a “blueprint” for conservative politics while also drawing on what she learned from her father, the war hero, Arizona Republican and 2008 presidential candidate.
McCain’s previous books include “My Dad, John McCain,” a picture story published in 2008.
