Michelle Branch and Patrick Carney Try to Save Their Marriage by Delaying Divorce

The Grammy-winning songstress, who shares two children with the drummer, filed the divorce papers in mid-August and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their separation.

AceShowbizMichelle Branch and Patrick Carney want to give their marriage another chance. The “Everywhere” singer and her estranged husband reportedly decided to delay their divorce proceedings to see if they can repair their relationship.

In new legal docs, the 39-year-old and the Black Keys drummer have agreed to work on their marriage for six months. After the cooling-off period, they will then decide whether they move forward with the split or dismiss the divorce proceedings for good.

Michelle filed for divorce from Patrick on August 12. The Grammy-winning songstress, who shares two children with Patrick, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their separation and wanted her ex to pay for her legal fees.

Michelle also asked for child support. Though she requested custody of their kids, she wanted the 42-year-old to get time with their children as well.

Michelle announced her split from Patrick on August 11. “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family,” she told TMZ. “The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”

On the same day, she was taken into custody in Nashville, Tennessee and charged with domestic assault for allegedly slapping Patrick. She admitted hitting the drummer about twice in the face before officers arrived. She was eventually let go from jail on a $1,000 bond.

Michelle and Patrick met during a Grammy party in 2015. After welcoming son Rhys James in August 2018, they married in April the following year. They had their second child in February 2022 after Michelle suffered a miscarriage in 2020.
