Monty Don, has been the lead presenter on Gardeners’ World since 2003, and has continued to entertain viewers with his gardening knowledge. The BBC presenter recently took to Twitter and shared an announcement in a move away from the main show.

The 66-year-old explained that he had just finished filming episodes for Friday’s edition of Gardeners’ World.

He then told viewers that they would be in for a treat as his co-stars Carol Klein, Adam Frost and Frances Tophill will feature in a new preview for Gardeners’ World Live.

The horticulturist also shared that he would be making an appearance at the annual event.

In view of his 237,000 followers, Monty penned: “Two good days filming in the garden (albeit under rather grey skies) with the rest of the programme a preview (by Carol, Adam & Frances) of GW Live ( where I will be all day Fri & Sat 27/28 Aug).”

Gardeners’ World Live’s Special Edition will be held at Birmingham NEC later this month.

Overflowing with garden inspiration, the Special Edition will feature the most-loved outside features of BBC Gardeners’ World Live including Show Gardens, plants to buy, gardening advice, BBC Good Food Market and live entertainment, plus special guests including Monty.

Fans flocked to comment on the post, as one wrote: “Looking forward to it.”

Another penned: “Would love to go to GW Live but it won’t be this year, unfortunately.”

A third added: “Was hoping to go to GW live.”

Elsewhere, Monty bid a fond farewell to Telegraph Rugby Writer Mick Cleary as he stepped down from the publication after 36 years.

It comes after Mick tweeted: a link to his “swansong” along with the tagline: “36 years and out: Long days and intoxicating nights – rugby may have changed but the stories remain

“@MickClearyTel bids farewell after a decades-long career in sports journalism.”

Monty took the opportunity to share a sweet parting message with the writer.

He wrote: “I have always sought out and enjoyed your pieces for their knowledge, clarity and humanity. Thank you.”

Mick had been the publication’s chief Rugby Union Writer after working there for 36 years.

Meanwhile, Monty recently took to Instagram and shared a sweet snap from his garden of his beloved Golden Retriever Nell.

The gardening expert revealed that his pet pooch had attempted to avoid the “tedious” filming of the day.

In view of his 937,000 followers, a picture of Nell showed the dog with his head to the floor.

Monty captioned the post: “Nell slinking back to bed to avoid the tedium ( for her) of filming.”

Gardeners’ World airs tonight on BBC Two at 8pm.
