R&B legend Aaliyah was honoured with her own waxwork at Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas just 24 hours ago – but her family have already been forced to beg fans to stop touching it.
The waxwork was unveiled to mark the 18th anniversary of the 22-year-old star’s tragic death in a plane crash.
The singer’s brother Rashad Haughton was in attendance at the unveiling of the figure, which has been dressed in a silver bikini top, black leather pants with a silver belt and thick silver choker to accessorise.
The statue has been modelled on her iconic look in her 2000 music video for Try Again.
However, the star’s family have now been forced to ask fans to stop touching the waxwork after members of the public were caught rearranging the figure’s hair and even applying fresh lipgloss on it.
In a statement issued to Twitter , Aaliyah’s relatives said: “We ask kindly that anyone visiting the Aaliyah wax figure @TussaudsVegas please treat it with respect, this has been a lot of years of hard work by her fans petitioning and her family’s @RAD_6 support ! Below is inappropriate and unacceptable #TeamAaliyah.”
The account shared images of people fiddling with the figure, with fans expressing their outrage.
