Naya Rivera may have hit her head while diving from the boat where her son Josey was found alone, a diver searching for her body has claimed.
The 33 year old former Glee star is presumed to have drowned at Lake Piru in southern California after her son was found alone on the rented vessel on Wednesday.
A recovery operation is underway, after the search was temporarily called off on Friday night as the darkness limited to visibility for the rescue divers.
Search and rescue diver Robert Inglis has now told DailyMailTV the actress could have “hit her head on debris” while diving into the lake.

He said: “People have broken their necks before. It’s happened in pools quite frequently, it can happen in lakes as well.
“If you go into some coves you could have 3ft off bottom and not even see it until you jumped in.
“There are places [like that] with the lake when you start to get more north because that’s where the shallow part of the lake is.
“There’s a lot of brush, you have these trees that are there and they do stick up.”
Police are said to be using sonar, underwater robots, a chopper and sniffer dogs in a bid to search for the actress.
But, there are fears the Glee actress’ body may never be found as a spokesperson for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is said to have told reporters that they have not been able to locate the star and they have switched “efforts into a search and recovery operation”.
Sergeant Kevin Donoghue has since provided an update as he revealed there is CCTV footage from the dock that shows the Glee star's rented boat departing.
According to Mirror Online he also explained that it could be weeks before the body is found as he said: “If the body is entangled on something beneath the water, it may never come back up.

“There's no way to really say. We're putting our best foot forward to try and locate her, we're using all the assets that are available to us, we're using technology like sonar.”
Naya went missing after her four year old son was found alone on a rented boat in the lake in California, Los Angeles.
A spokesman for Ventura County Sheriff's Department said they responded to a report of the little boy alone on a boat around 4.48pm on Wednesday.
Naya’s son is reportedly unharmed and told investigators that he and his mother went swimming, but she never got back into the boat.
