Pete Wicks has admitted that his friendship tattoo of Sam Thompson’s face was “one of the worst decisions of my life” and will probably cover up the portrait in the future.
The Only Way Is Essex star, 32, has opened up about his friendship with the goofy Made In Chelsea favourite, 28, after they bonded on Celebs Go Dating in 2019.
Since then, the pair have been inseparable and have gone on to produce their own show called Pete and Sam’s Reality News alongside their podcast Just A Little P***k.
The dynamic duo got matching tattoos last month to honour their friendship, after they vowed to get them at the start of their podcast which they launched during lockdown.
Sam, who has recently moved in with his mother while his house is renovated, has a tattoo of Pete in an oversized hat with his long locks and his trademark beard on display in the centre of his forearm, whereas Pete has his tattoo on his hip away from prying eyes.
Now, in an exclusive chat with OK! Online, the TOWIE favourite has revealed he didn’t think the pair would commit to getting each other’s faces permanently inked on their bodies.
He joked: “It was probably one of the worst decisions of my life, I’ll be honest with you. Who on earth would want Sam Thompson tattooed on them?"

“It’s something we agreed to do ages and ages ago and we mentioned it a few times [on the podcast] so we ended up doing it for our show but I didn’t think we would actually end up getting each other’s faces," he explained.
“His is on his forearm, he’s over the moon with it! Whereas mine’s on my hip and will probably be getting covered at some point because we didn’t have a lot of room to put it in."
Their friendship has been a hit with fans and the pair have continued to go from strength to strength with their “love-hate” relationship.
He said: “Sam is like the little brother I never wanted. It’s like a love-hate relationship. He loves me, I hate him and that’s kind of how it goes.
“Ordinarily me and him wouldn’t be mates. We are polar opposites, complete opposites, but we met a few years ago on Celebs Go Dating and since then I can’t get rid of him.”
Pete, who recently revealed the real reason he grew his hair out, has remained a close friend to Sam over the years, and as much as he is annoyed by his goofy pal, it was he who provided a shoulder to cry on during Sam’s explosive break-up with Zara McDermott last year.
The Essex Casanova spoke sweetly of his best friend, and shared: “He’s genuinely a really nice geezer and I think that’s the most important thing.
“You meet a lot of people when you’re in this kind of industry and it’s very rare to meet someone who is just authentically themselves all the time.”
When asked about their long-lasting relationship, Pete admitted that although the pair wouldn’t normally get on, they have formed a real friendship regardless whether or not they are in front of the cameras.
He added: “It doesn’t matter if there’s a camera there or there’s not a camera there, he’s always the same and he’s just him and that’s what I love about him. Love him or hate him that’s just the way he is.
“We’re the most successful and only relationship to come out of Celebs Go Dating!” he said proudly.
Although the pair didn’t find love on the hit E4 show, they left with a bromance that has stood the test of time, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for them next.
