He continued: “I knew she was struggling when I saw photos in the papers taken doing the final Thursday night clap for carers last week, and she looked utterly exhausted and was wiping away tears.”

Kate has been posting regular weekly updates about Derek’s health on Instagram, usually during the Clap For Carers initiative on Thursday evenings.

Fans waited eagerly for good news, but she revealed he’s still in a coma despite being COVID-19 free.

Since the nationwide NHS tribute ended last month, Kate recently appeared via video link to GMB where she spoke to fellow hosts Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh.

Despite her situation, the I’m A Celeb favourite remained cheery and hopeful with fans everywhere commending her bravery.

“He’s fought the most extraordinary battle, the fact that he’s still here and holding on. I’m so grateful that he’s still here”, she said.

“I’ve got the option of praying and hoping but he’s very sick. It’s affected him from the top of his head to the tips of his toes.”

She added: “It’s wreaked extraordinary damage on his body and we don’t know if he can recover from that. It’s a war that Derek is fighting.”

All her GMB colleagues have spoken out and offered their support to Kate in these desperate times.
