Pippa Middleton has appeared to give a subtle but sweet nod to the Royal Family with her newborn daughter’s name.
It was reported earlier this month that the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister, 38, had given birth to her third child, and has gone on to name the tot Rose.
According to experts the moniker comes from a Latin word and the meaning refers to a flower.
“It derives from the Latin word rosa, meaning ‘a flower’. It is thought to originally be the Norman form of the Germanic name Hrodohaidis, meaning ‘famous type’. The Normans introduced it in England with the forms Roese and Rohese.”
While those with the family name Rose is a link to where they lived, in particular a place where “wild roses grew or a habitational name for someone living at a house bearing the sign of the rose”.
Roses are also June’s birth month flower – the same month Pippa’s thought to have given birth to her newest arrival.
In addition to this, the name is thought to have links to her in-laws as many royals had also been named Rose.
According to the Daily Mail, a source claimed: "Rose has been the name of some royals across the centuries, including Mary Tudor, known as ‘Mary Rose’, Queen of France."
Pippa shares her three children with husband James Matthews, 46.
As well as baby Rose, they have a three year old son, named Arthur, and another daughter named Grace, whom they welcomed last year.
Pippa first met now-husband, Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews' brother James, in 2007, on one of the world's most beautiful Caribbean islands.
The pair met again in 2016 and got engaged that same year. Tying the knot in May 2017, they welcomed first-born Arthur a year later, with daughter Grace arriving in 2021.
The news of the Middleton-Matthews becoming a family of five comes after reports that Pippa and Matthew had purchased a multi million pound home in Pippa’s childhood village.
With their family growing, The Daily Mail has reported that the couple are planning a move out of London and have bought a new home about 20 minutes from her parents’ home in the Berkshire village of Bucklebury.
The new £15 million Georgian mansion is reported to have 30 rooms and approximately 150 acres of land.
